Silicone lasts. It does not absorb, so it does not need reapplying mid-session, and it works in water where a water-based formula simply washes away.
The trade is compatibility: silicone lubricant degrades silicone toys over time. Use it with glass, steel or skin, and keep a water-based bottle for everything else.
Not for you if your collection is mostly silicone. That is not a small caveat, and it is the one this category is worst at mentioning.
